Success happens at the grocery store

X3_Wk7_Day2_imageFor me the hardest part of eating right is grocery shopping. If I can make it down those isles without putting chocolate or processed crap into my cart? My entire week is so much better. I feel like I set myself up for success when I am done grocery shopping. Right now I would LOVE some dark chocolate with my coffee, but I don’t have any, thank God!

Why Not You?

whynotyouSometimes I think we see success for other people, and we feel happy for them. But we doubt ourselves.

Visualize yourself being successful, what would that look like? How would that change your day to day life? Ask yourself, why NOT you? Why not now? Why not today? There’s nothing stopping you from being successful but you.

Push Play and shut off your mind

This is particularly true if you are the type of person who goes through the motions. If you just kinda phone it in, you’re wasting your time. You need to push PAST the point where you say eh that’s enough for now. The real magic happens only AFTER that point! Which is why they always say those last few reps, the ones you barely squeeze out, those are the ones that matter. Push play and shut off your mind.fearfeel

Turkey Black Bean Chili

turkey chili

I wish you could smell my house right now! Wednesday has become my crock pot day. It’s the busiest day of the week for me and I don’t have time to cook. So I toss stuff in and drool all day lol.
Today I’m making turkey chili:

1 lb lean ground turkey browned in 1tbsp olive oil with a whole chopped red onion.

2 cans low sodium black beans rinsed

1 28 oz can Muir Glen fire roasted tomatoes (only those will do!)

I can mild Rotel tomatoes

1 can diced green chilies

1 serving of homemade taco mix (you could use store bought, I will post my recipe below)

1 Tbsp each chili powder and cumin

Fresh cilantro and avocado for topping later

I will end up freezing the leftovers unless any of you wanna come over for dinner!

My homemade taco seasoning:

1 Tbsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp paprika
1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp black pepper

I make these assembly line style and keep a few on hand at all times. No preservatives or garbage that comes in store bought packs and cheaper too!

Inspire others

success

My job as a coach is not just to nag you. Ok well I do enjoy that part a little lol. But it’s also to inspire you! I want nothing more than for you to see the potential deep inside yourself.

Are you an athlete, a leader, a brilliant chef? I don’t really know you. But I do believe in you because I’ve seen people find strengths inside themselves they didn’t even realize existed. In fact that’s how I got here.

I’m not saying everyone should be a coach, but I bet there are a few of you out there who would love inspiring other people. I want to talk to you about that. Get in touch with me. Like this post, send me a message, send up a smoke signal, do something about it!

A lot of people talk about paying it forward, and that’s nice. Don’t just talk about it, be about it.

Body Media Link, Take 3!

Look what I just got! It’s a replacement Body Media Link, unfortunately this is my 3rd one
I have to day their customer service is remarkable. This is the 2nd time they have replaced my Body Media Link at no charge within a year. Unfortunately that means I’ve also had two defective products within a year.
Both times they were known defects. So I ask myself why don’t they just fix the issues? Are they betting that most people won’t use the product long enough for it to break? When it is working I love this thing! It is so accurate and tracks every calorie I burn 24/7 plus my sleep, steps, nutrition, vigorous vs moderate activity, etc. and it syncs wirelessly with my iPhone. I love this thing! If it had a heart rate monitor it would be perfect.

I’ve been considering other devices and might have to jump ship if this one goes defective too. I’m almost at the end of my one year warranty. Then I’m on my own. Still, I have to give credit where credit is due. Their customer service is above and beyond.bodylink

Your health is up to you!

I watched this documentary last night about how doctors are being forced to treat patients according to what insurance companies say, rather than base their treatment on science. The medical industry is being controlled by politics, money and insurance companies and some seriously ill patients are dying because they cannot get the treatment they need.

Of course it is not directly related to what we do, yet in a lot of ways it is. It’s a long documentary, but fascinating and gives you a whole new perspective on what happens behind the scenes when a patient goes to their doctor for treatment. Most patients don’t realize that doctors can lose their license if they don’t follow the protocol set by the insurance companies.
Under Our Skin
In this movie you see how the insurance companies file complaints against doctors who treat patients aggressively for Lyme Disease. Then they are brought before the medical boards and actually suspended and/or lose their medical license!

For curing patients. It’s unbelievable. More than half of the board who wrote the legislation for Lyme Disease (the documentary is about that) was receiving money or had actually referenced work they themselves had written!!!!

It’s so absurd that they are allowed to be on both ends of creating the laws and also receiving money from the other side to govern what goes into the laws. I always knew the system was corrupt, I just didn’t know exactly how that worked.

Anyhow, it is free streaming if you have Amazon prime. Definitely worth watching.

Write it down

worth it

We have all heard this a million times. But have you ever really thought about what it would feel like to be on the other side of your goals? Ya know, at the finish line. What kind of pride would you feel? How would your life change? Who would you be? Take five minutes to identity with these goals, write them down. You don’t have to show anyone, but it is proven that people who write down their goals achieve them way more often than people who don’t. So even if that sounds hokey to you, so what? Do it anyway, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
